Meistrite Linn, Phoenix Rising, Viskasteel, and West

My current map expansion plans are to reasonably fill in what I consider the central area of the world map before moving on to map the outer cities. The central area being from -10k, -10k to 10k, 10k. I'm going to have at least one route through every 1000 x 1000 block of my map.

For now, that means I'm going to be mapping on the western side of the map for a while. On my most recent trips, I mapped the area between Meistrite Linn, Phoenix Rising, Viskasteel, and the area west of Viskasteel. Here are those trips.

Efficient Mining in Luanti

I'm writing this to explain how I mine efficiently, and also because I don't see much talk about this method. By "efficient mining" I mean a pattern of mining that results in the most ore extraction in a given volume of rock with as little removal of rock as practicable. In other words, what is the minimum amount of rock that can be removed to gain access to all of the ores? Below is a grid view from the side that shows a pattern of mining that accomplishes the task of exposing all blocks in a given area. The view is from the side looking into the tunnels. The tunnels are 1x2 and can be of any length. They are spaced every fourth block horizontally.  Every two blocks down vertically, the tunnels are offset horizontally by two blocks. More canal building, Viskasteel, Aventiure, and More

 I took a small break from mapping as I built my second canal with a small fort/lighthouse. This one is closer to Greenborough and helps to connect it with the rest of a large sea. Once I got back to traveling, I found that the direct path from Egypt to Greenborough is entirely over land. Then I found an overland route from Odonhull to Viskasteel. From there, I explored the water ways around Viskasteel a little before finding a route from  there to Finntown. Finally, I took the airship to Aventiure and mapped a route to Alcotown and sailed again out of there. Here's the map.
