First Post

While this is my first post of my map on my new blog it is my fourth exported version. The primary motivation for this map is personal use, but I thought it would be best to share in case others found it helpful.

Navigation by sea or land is the emphasis of this map (in contrast to building). In fact its earliest versions were focused on sea travel. I had recently learned how to use the sailboat mod and wanted to keep track of where I could sail to. Soon I was discovering several cities near Haven. That lead to wanting to track other types of routes between the cities.

The method of creating this map is simple. I take screen shots as I travel. Later, I use the coordinates displayed in the screen shots to mark points on a canvas in Inkscape. The color of the line indicates what method of travel I used between the points. The result is an easily created accurate map of ways to travel from point to point in Your Land.

Due to the way it is constructed, some care should be taken in interpreting the map. A blue line (indicating sea travel) from one point to another point doesn't necessarily mean that it's only sea between those two points. Likewise, a brown line (indicating land travel) doesn't mean that there is no water. However, I have made efforts to create enough points to make the routes reasonably accurate.
